I've got a mate called Howard who's named after a slurry store his dad saw on the way to the hospital. He enjoys telling people this. No wonder he didn't get laid till 2 days before his 30th birthday.

For a while, after one of my first questions on here ('what's the best way to make a dog die? I've stuck a sword through it's head....carries on with more information than is needed) my brother started calling me 'Dogstabber Bill'. Not a name I cherished.

Nothing interesting about my given name. I was named after both my grandmothers.

My nickname in high school was 'Crash' because I wrecked a car & got into several fender-benders. I'm a better driver now, I swear!

I used to work with a bartender who claimed that after I'd had a few too many, a different personality would emerge. He named her Edna. Apparently she was quite wild. She got me into boatloads of trouble & tricky situations. Haven't heard from her in years, thank goodness.

My mum never had an ultrasound so she didn't know she was having twins, they were going to have one girl called "Karen Louise". Karen came out feet first, then the doctor said "there seems to be a problem here" - and that was me. After the stress, and having to change the pushchair etc, I guess they couldn't be bothered thinking up another name. I like the idea I was a "problem" even before I was born. I intend to keep being one as far as possible.

And I got "comrade" as my email when I went to Cuba as part of doing Spanish, my mate suggested it as a way of ingratiating myself. I only got into Marxist theory ages after, it was meant just as an expression of general benevolence.

I was given the name mean carleen years ago because I have always been the type to say what I mean and I don't sugar coat it. I just give it to people straight up and most times they feel I am being mean when I am only being truthful. I don't have the patience to sweeten the pot. (smile) I have NEVER found the need to apologize for ANY thing I have ever said to anyone.

My mother used to call me 'Johanna Petronella Cornelia Elisabeth'. Which makes absolutely no sense, as neither of those names is my real name. Not even close.
My mother is crazier than I am.
