I had mine pierced about 7 years ago.

It turns out that there is a vain on the underside of your tongue which dictates where the piercing can be done, obviously you can't go through it. My mate got it done at the same time. Their piercing was in the middle, mine was near the front of my tongue.

Your tongue really swells up but it's quite funny trying to eat and drink.

Anyway mine clattered on my teeth whenever I talked and it sounded like I had a lisp. I shattered 3 teeth whilst eating with it in.

My mate took theirs out during the swelling period and never put it back in.

It's old news now, I wouldn't recommend it whether you've got good teeth or not???

To answer your question. No it doesn't hurt.

You should try to avoid anything that requires chewing. I went 3 day's on Farley's Rusks and bottles of Lucozade. Plenty of water as someone else has mentioned. A good strong mouthwash too.

no it doesn't hurt but 15 minutes after it bloody does, if you smoke that hurts to do that the first 2 days id say only eat soup i tried to eat a sandwich and almost chocked i couldn't control my tongue because of the pain. the best thing i found drink lots of water to keep you hydrated because if you dont your tongue swells slightly and it hurts more, suck ice cubes or ice pops with flavor there brilliant they shrink and numb the tongue seriously if you follow the advise the piercer gives you after a week you should be fine, don't eat Chinese food or anything spicy for a while, oh don't drink alcohol it makes you tongue swell and that hurts lol i did all the things I'm tell in you not to and believe me i no what I'm talking about oh and the last thing before the first year of having it done don't take it out longer than half an hour as it only takes 30 Min's for it to heals up i did that too.

Do you mean "tounge" or do you mean "tongue". If you're referring to your "tounge", think very carefully about having this part of your anatomy pierced as it's unbelievably painful, can turn purple and you often find an enormous amount of blood oozing out of the end. Sometimes it's even known to drop off. People have been known to be admitted to hospital following this procedure in more severe cases. Be warned ...

No, no, no, no, no.

My step-niece pierced her tongue. She talks so fast that the stud cracked the enamel on her teeth. It cost her $3000 to repair the damage.

One of the young men at work pierced his tongue. It took forever for the swelling to go down. He received many negative comments from staff because of the way he looked and the way it sounded when he tried to talk. HR pulled him in and convinced him to remove it. He's had problems with the space healing. It's been two years and he is still having trouble.

I had my tongue pierced 4 years ago no it didn't hurt to bad did swell but I sucked ice lollies and it was fine I was eating chicken that night!! It hurt worse getting my nose done that felt like I was punched in the face.
Hey get it done if you don't like it you can take it out at least then you wont always be wondering what it would be like. And use mouth wash it keeps it nice and clean. Good luck

I had mine pierced about 8 years ago and i absolutely love it! Not to mention my boyfriend loves it too.

It doesn't hurt at all because there are no nerve endings inside your tongue, only on the surface. In fact, compared to my other piercings, it was definitely the least painful one. (FYI most painful would be belly button)

For the 3 days immediately after piercing your tongue you should only eat soft foods like porridge, jello etc. And definitely no spicy foods! Also you should brush your teeth after every meal and use mouthwash, You should also try to drink only water, not soft drinks, in order to reduce the amount of bacteria in your mouth to prevent infection.

I have mine done, and its cool. I made sure I used a piercer who numbed it first, and it didnt hurt at all.
As for foods, different people react differently, my friend was eating pizza 2 hours later. I just stayed on soft foods for a couple of days.
Make sure you dont eat spicy food or alchol as this can increase the swelling, ice cold water can help.
