He is not called the sock fairy, by the way; he is called the sock goblin.
Obviously any creature that steals something as disgusting and stinky as a sock is a slimy little parasite and so you wouldn't expect him to leave money or show any other gesture of generosity.

The sock fairy is a thief!! She steals the socks (and only one from a pair) to irritate us.
We offer our teeth to the tooth fairy and it's an age old agreement that she pays us in return. It's not like we need the teethe anymore after they've fallen out, but my left sock....different story.

I don't believe in this sock fairy and tooth fairy rubbish. I once caught my mum putti ng money under my pillow and taking a tooth ( it hurt a lot ). I think she's responsible for the socks as well

It's not a sock fairy as mentioned, it's a small sock eating monster named Harold. He's about the size of a large housecat. he's a direct desendent of the monster who lived under your bed or in your closet as a child. Other than this he's completely harmless. He just adores the taste of a good sock, you see toe jam is what keeps them healthy. He can't pay because you see he has no pockets so he can't carry lose change.
His spouse is the monster behind the fridge who eats the last of the ice cream then put's spells over you & makes you think you did it!

The sock fairy has no money to buy new socks that's why he takes ours. The tooth fairy has money because he takes the teeth and sells them to dentist for them to make false teeth with.

Because the Sock Fairy misguidedly thinks that he's doing you a favour by disposing of your trash... but seeing as you never actually pay HIM for his services, he only does half the job (he'd take the whole pair off your hands for a small fee) For a larger fee you could pay him to not clean up the smelly sock trash in your home, but that involves leaving a small pile of coins next to every pair...
