when yahoo first introduced voice services, we were able to make calls from UAE and it was blocked by etisalat(the one and only service provider in UAE) later. But interestingly some of my friedns are still able to use it from their net work. how can they block it for only one net work? is it possible? is there any way to bypass these type of internet filters .... like any proxies ... please help

I can't speak about Yahoo Voice, but in general, try one of the following when your ISP blocks VOIP:

1) Check with the VOIP provider if you can choose any port, or if they have any alternate ports.

2) Ask the VOIP provider for an alternate IP address.

Both of the above will only work until the ISP also blocks the relevant ports and/or IP addresses. It's a game of cat and mouse.

It seems that you're not the only one with the problem. When I worked for Net2Phone this was a standard issue: eventually we just had to advise customers of the block and refund the customer's money.
