ARE MANNERS A THING OF THE PAST OR WHAT?

I would blame this on evolution and numbers.
When you are in a group (like when we were cave-men) it paid to be hostile (that way you get the babes and the food - or at least the left-overs!).
Very few animals have shown a 'culture' for being well-mannered. Like a male rooster, for example. If he finds food, he calls all the 'wives' and daughters (but chases the sons off!), let's them eat and has only the left-overs! This is, I would call an inbuilt behaviour. I have no idea how this came.
In humans, you are nice only if you are nice (I would want to believe in Demons and Gods here - like in 'The Lord of the Rings' -probably a descendant of God would be more well-mannered than a well you know what!)!
Also, you will be well-mannered if the group in which you are is well-mannered and vice-versa.
Probably, it is intelligence and understanding more than anything else.

Yeah I can say manners are a thing in the past because everyone don't show respect in these days especially young boys because every boy need a father and if they don't have one sometimes they can grow up still a little boy and that's what happens most of the time.

I blame the 80's and the increase in self-interest that was engendered by the politics of the day. Reaganomics and Thatcherism at its worst.

You can find love if you try, but it shouldn't be so hard. I think people are just scared to be nice, which is a tragedy. Please's and Thank You's mean alot! :)
