Oaky, I look around on most of the boards on yahoo and this quetsion intrigue me most. I read some interseting comments on this topic, but i got to have my 2-cents . Many of us realized what alcohol can do to our mind. Perhaps, there are even moment of under the influence that we do not fully comprehend what surrounding us, but can we honestly admit that we are honest when we are drunk? I expect many different answers b/c drugs have a differencet affect on each person, but it seem okay to blame on alchohol if something goes wrong. Truth is not all people are honest when drunk, but some are. I post the question direct to men b/c most guys need "Al" (our number side kick) to talk to the ladies and ladies you guys can be tough when sober....so is alcohol a potion for truth or excuses made by men to get their ways in to your pants?

I don't drink to have an excuse for anything ever other than for the buzz of the alcohol. If I want to get into a woman's panties I most definitely make sure I don't drink too much. And as far as speaking the truth is influenced by all or not drinking, I prefer the sober part of truthfulness.

I've been an alcoholic (and some say once you've become one you will always be one). Nonetheless I've reached a habit of drinking when I want to drink and not whenever I think I should. One of the reasons being that on my peak of alcoholism (I owned a bar so I was making way more money than I could drink up), I had a lot of mornings after the night before that I clearly noticed having been drinking too much. Sometimes it was just a hangover and sometimes it was a woman I wouldn't consider touching had I been sober. After a few too many of those experiences I decided to no longer drink to have any sort of excuse for whatever decided in an inebriated state. It took some effort (trial and error) before I reached that point clearly.

At most alcohol brings a pleasant distortion to who you are, which gives shortcuts to things like confidence and a more intuitive way of thinking/doing. This may appear as straightforward and truthful, but it's no more than an effect of a well placed distortion at most.

I had half a bottle of very good white wine before answering this question. So assume that all I mention here is truthful or impressive enough for some women to wish my presence where their panties are. And see straight up that things aren't like that! The wine is good though. Cheers.

The only truthful thing about alcohol is it's sneakiness, depending on what you drink. It lowers inhibitions. You seem to have answered your own questions. Those that realize their state of mind, and degree they are where hey are have some handle on it. Those that refuse to accept trap it presents have problem. The bar scene is collection of folks with huge variations for being there. You need to look at each person individually.

To a certain extent we are. But we all know alcohol has effects, and those effects trigger nerves in are brains, and it makes us behave a certain ways. Then again, for example, you could have homosexual thought perhaps? and never pursued those feeling until you got drunk. That is possible. I would have to think about this more. Maybe you should read medical books.

I myself have never been "drunk" I have always been the observer of it all .. I enjoy watching the others get drunk and make fools of them selves I am often referred to as "god" because I would be the only one who could make peace when they would fight .. And when folks wanted to go home of coarse I made sure they got in a cab or slept it off in their car or something .. Anyway ... I also never drank any alcohol till I was like 23 .. That is when I first discovered Disaronno Amaretto ... I can get a big bottle of that and it last me six months or longer ..Depends upon if my Husband helps drink it too...LOL

Some may be more honest when drunk, because they don't give a damn about what they're saying...

I once read in a book about Japan that Japanese people tend to forgive whatever heinous things you do when drunk, eg vandalizing cars and getting into fights, simply because you're drunk. A poor excuse, but one that is ensconced into their society.

For me I tend to be more aware of where I am, who I am with. Although the body feels 'drunk', the mind is still clear, and I'll be more vocal (more guts to speak out) than usual.

As for guys, who's says that they get over drunk and had not idea what they are doing are lying. No matter what, if you are really dead drunk, how do you 'think' to get into the pants?

You would be sleeping your head off.

Think about it.

I know that I tell the truth when I am drunk. In the past, Ive actually pretended to be drunk and made people think that I was telling the truth when I was actually lying....

too much of something is bad they say. well, in most cases we drink to enjoy and not to get stoned, pissed or get violent. its always a little bit of something. it really depends on how you handle it. do yo think the alchohol thinks? does alchohol have a brain? No! but you do.. which means you should be held responsible for your actions and shouldnt put all the blame on Tequilla. poor tequilla!

i do believe in alcohol induced wisdom. i am guilty of having wonderful alcohol laced conversation.

what alcohol usually does is boost up your confidence. sometimes you just can't control your selves. its like you've got nothing to lose because you have a perfect excuse for blurting out ****. you've got alcohol to blame.

alcohol is both. it cures everything. you just have to clean up your mess the next day.

i don't think alcohol makes anyone do anything they wouldn't otherwise do. that's just an excuse people use when they can't find another one like, ...............no, baby, i would've never cheated on you if i hadn't have been drunk. or, ...............no, i'm not mad at you, i just slashed you tires because i had too much booze. ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! an excuse made by men.
