I have been using O2 XDA IIs since January 2005 and so far it's been mix experienced but I would say more positive though. I can't imagine now my life without a PDA phone as I don't have to carry few seperate devices (MP3, Camera, PDA, Phone).
I would advise you to get O2 ATOM or the equlient from HP. The biggest concern is battery life specially if you use a lot of MP3 etc. better get 1 more spare battery.

I go for Treo 650 which is in Palm OS.
The lastest palm Treo 700 is using Window Mobile 5.
O2 and Dupod are fine but hang often....they are in Window OS.

you propose clever telephones and specific they are greater useful. they seem to be a pda do each and everything a pda does and you get to apply it as a telephone modem and a textual content messager. what greater are you able to decide for. circulate with the cellular telephone over the pda.
