Why on earth do you follow such a tight schedule for feedings? He's growing and does not need to follow an exact chart on when to eat and what to eat. You find what he likes, perferably healthy food of course, and then feed him whenever he is hungry. Babies cannot have eating disorders or over-eat. Trust him. He knows what he's doing.

Hello
I Found That My Children All Started The Lumpy Foods At Different Ages So Don't Worry It's Only A Guide To The Age Of The Baby What They Should Be Eating,
I Would Not Go By The Age On The Jar,
If Your Son Likes The Pureed Food Let Him Eat It .
I Was Always Pleased When My Children Drank Milk.
Your Son Will Move At His Own Speed.
You Will Be Fine.

You're doing everything right, so stop worrying. If you think he's not getting enough food, double up on the jars. My daughter was coming up to a year old before she would eat anything that wasn't pureed, and she started off by pinching some bacon I had on my dinner plate, running off with it and eating it.
He will eat lumpy stuff in a couple of days/weeks/months, no one can really tell, but I can tell you that he will do it. Be calm and patient, he'll be wolfing down your lovely home-cooked roast dinners before you know it.
I understand your frustration though- while my daughter would only eat pureed food, by aunt's daughter, who's a couple of months younger than mine, would eat sandwiches and all sorts, making me feel really inadequate as a mommy, but the most important thing to remember is to not compare your son to other people, or get worried because he isn't doing what all the books say he should be doing.
He'll do everything at his own pace, and by the time your celebrating his first birthday, he'll probably be eating all the lumpy food his little tummy can handle.
Good luck!

Its nice to see your question cos i thought me and my little girl were they only ones! She is 9 and a half months old and just will not take lumps. yesterday I tried (again) with some jarred food that had vey small lumps in it. She took it for about ten mouth fulls which shocked me! And promptly stopped. No more. I was screening out all the large bits so she was getting only the slightest texture. But you no what? Don;t stress. I am the mother of twins also and if i've learnt anything it is that it will happen all in good time. It is natures course to happen when they are good and ready and not to stress. Some kids don;t walk for ages, some don't talk for ages.. Don't worry about it and it will happen. Love goes along way for the little ones, alot more than a jar of some lumpy food... Enjoy your little one...

I wouldn't be to worried about it at least he is eating. I'd be more worried if he wasn't. the only thing i can think of is maybe just add a little bit of lumpy food in the pureed stuff. I'm sure he will start eating lumpy food when he is ready. If he is still hungry before bed just give him a little more food that he likes but do try and add a little bit of lumpy food and hopefully he will start to get use to it. All kids are different.

hi, as its been a while since my Lil girl was 8 months...... you can try the gel's that are available they always go down a treat. um try giving him biscuits to chew on, or little sandwiches, um weetbix is good, not purred though so its still abit lumpy, just so that he gets a chance to get use to lumpier foods..... Does he have any teeth?? if he does then try more rusks you can get them in all different flavor's, also try cutting back on the milk as this will be filling him up very fast, so he may be to full to get anything else, try juice every now and again instead of milk, gives a bit more variety. i don't think there is anything else.

The best way to start is by making his rusk more lumpy. Add less water and get him used to lumps like that.

You need to do this asap

I know 4 year olds who will only eat yoghurts cos their parents were to lazy to wean them properly.

TO the muppet above - he isn't choking cos he has no teeth, they do not need teeth to eat these jars! He makes gagging noises as he is getting used to new textures hitting the back of ihs throat. If you get into a flap and get all anxious when this happens he will develop a complex!

My (now 10 month old) was the same - i knew he needed the quantity of the 7 month jars but hated the lumps - so i would push a 7 month jar through a sieve -he really liked the new flavours and then gradually i started leaving the smaller lumps in - then one day at 9 months plus my husnad fed him - didn't know about the sieve and bobs your uncle!!!!! Now he eats everything

BTW - agree with your comment on the a****le

Don;t worry - all babies will eat when they are hungry. My son didn't eat lumpy food until he was 1. Try cooking your own veg not a jar & purree it a little thiker each time. Home made food is not only more filling its much healthier.Weetabix is better than jars of porridge with his milk.
Don't get stressed - if you are he will sense it & then meal times become a chore when they should be fun for hm

ignore mehta s....I've seen that same answer on a couple of questions...if we ignore him, he'll go away eventually, I've already reported him. Back to your queston.....try mixing a little of the lumpier food in with the pureed food, and gradually increase the lumpy and decrease the pureed....this is also how you can get him to eat new foods....mix a little of something he does like in with something new, etc.....I know how you feel, my 7 month old has been on babyfood for a month now and I can get him to eat anything except meat. He likes the veggies, but not the meat...so I am going to try my method at dinner tonight...it's just time. Good luck!

I agree with everyone else...all babies are different and some adjust better than others....now if he likes pureed foods then let him eat it...try instead of giving him baby food that has chunks in it try homemade food...he's old enough to sit up in a high chair allow him to eat at the table with the family...give him some mashed potatos and let him feed himself...peas are another good food to have him try...good luck and dont worry you'll be ok and so will your little boy
