first you have to remove the sludge or if you pond is in a really but state replace at least 75% of the water,There are products on the market which can be obtained from pet shops and pond suppliers that work very well.If the water needs regular attention fit a ultraviolet sterlilizer .you can also try accu-clear which and barley straw

Straw works long term.

Short term you can dredge out some of the sludge with a net ( the kind kids use on the beach ) and top us with rain water or tap water ( treated with pond safe by Tetra ), then pump/filter

Have a pump/fountain to airate the water, or use a UV filter to kill algea. Use these whenever the sun is shining

Its best to keep on top of it rather than fix it afterwards. With the lots of sunshine we've had in the UK many ponds are struggling at the moment. Keep it ariated is the most important as your pond is quite small for 15" Koi

Don't overfeed, fish need very littel food.

take all the fish out. Drain the remaiining water out and take a scrub brush to get all the green off the sides then put new water in and your fish back in. You should also get some fish that will clean the water. I forget what they are called but if you go into a pet store ask them about it or look for the ones sucking on the side of the glass that are normally brown with spots. They eat scum so that will help you alot in the future unless you want to invest in a filter which im not sure if they make them for ponds.

If you don't want to go through the hassel of draining and replacing the water (which is a good idea) then you can purchase aquatic snails which eat fish poop, algae, etc. Also you can buy a water pump/filter. A water pump is used for fountains and has a filter in it so you can put a fountain in your pond and it will filter and look even nicer. There is also something on the market that does this, like a chemical that is safe for fish and aqutic life. Can't think of what it is but you can find it at like Walmart or a pet/landscaping shop. Good Luck! Oh and aquatic plants work too. Your fish won't mind having plants in the pond as all!

buy a pump and let most of the water out, then catch the fish and put them in a huge bucket, and just clean it then. After you've done that. put new, clean water in the pond, and after its half full put the fishes back in.

have self belief it or no longer, goldfish are fairly happy in green water because it is a healthful ecosystem for them as long because it is not finished of weed. All you needed to do grow to be grant a clear out and it would have solved the problem of clearing the water slightly so for you to work out slightly further down. by utilising messing approximately with the water (ie removing and including), you have knocked the pond stability out, killed off countless the stable micro organism etc, and it desires time to get itself working back. If the filters are working in simple terms circulate away properly on my own, your fish will love you for it. finally it is going to type itself out, in simple terms safeguard the filters properly and nature will do the job. in case you initiate including chemical components now and doing the rest (please please do no longer even *evaluate* stripping the pond!), you will kill off your fish.

Had a bad problem myself this year. Cured it by reducing the speed of the flow through the filtration system, and putting in more UV. Takes a couple of weeks, but the results were good.
