Because he actually travelled in the past and changed history. That's why there was a statue to the ape general in the old Lincoln monument - the general lived and conquered the planet.

The character of Mark Wahlberg keeps falling through black holes and coming out into different dimensions. There is a multiverse theory, that states that any possibility to any outcome is actually real.........somewhere. So there is a universe for each of those possibilities......meaning a universe where "humans" are the animals, and "apes" are the dominant species.
Mark is stuck in a multiverse-hopping machine. He may never find his way home.

Because it was to show that the apes ended up ruling the world.

I think after Mark Wahlberg left the Apes with the chimpanzi, somehow the apes finally learned how to travel thru time. so the apes alrdy travel faster than Mark himself back to where the present time is. ans they conquer the world n make all the human into apes.

because it is one of the worst plot holes in film history. Yes, they want us to believe that after "Mark Walhberg" leaves in his ship he goes to the future and then at that time history has followed American history exactly only accelerated, which of course is ethnocentric and completely implausible. (even for a movie with dirty, stinkin, rotten, talking, apes)
