Yes, I hate the bloody liberals, they all should be given their Green Cards to go and live in America.
Personally I think the media are to blame, and quite often people are misquoted, when this cr@p hits the press, it makes non-Christian communities shrink that little bit further back away from us and instills the seeds of hatred in Christian, ok lets not kid ourselves, the WHITE, communities.
The press have a responsibility in my opinion, note how they always say "A British Muslim" was arrested, they NEVER say, "A British Christian" was arrested. Why is that?

It's true, it could only cause resentment.
Whoever thought removing the banner would help got it backwards. Political correctness some reason believes that 'offending' someone (when in reality, as in your example, nobody is offended in the first place) is worse than what it actually does, singling out and seperating people. I bet none of the non-Christians even asked to have the sign taken down.
Lots of people become mad at whoever PC assumes will be offended, and it only breeds hatred for taking things away. I don't know where these people come from, but traditions like Christmas trees and pageants need not be stopped. America is a democracy, catering to the majority, therefore why should long standing traditions that shape our childhoods and culture be stopped because some paranoid, fearful person assumed someone else *might* get offended.
I woudnt go as far a blaming it on liberals, the issue itself is what is at fault, and shunning the entire 'liberal attitute' seems a bit dismissive.

I think that political correctness is like virtually anything, it can be positive or negative, depending on how it's used. If it's carried out to promote good will and understanding it can be a positive force.
I think it falls short of its goals (and causes more harm than good) where it's used as a defence mechanism and a tool of control against what other people can and can't do. As for the later, open and free thinking societies should not tolerate extreme PC any more than they tolerate xenophobia, racism, violence, etc.

what can you possibly imagine people will have to say, in the short space we have. Im going to have to sum up here..
1 To far P.C. who cares.. i mean how does it effect me, im not an employer a tv station or a newspaper. Im not outwardly racist, but did watch tv for a decade, so its hard to shake racist feelings.
2 Promoting racism, by enforced equality. No, just no..... 95% of the country has some racist tendancies, which are the fault of the media, and guess what, now the media are promoting being P.C. so everyone has to. People are racist, because they ar mindless little robot bas*****, who are more than happy to be led.
Note, i dont think modern society, has a place for religion, what with tv being so allconsuming.

Totally agree with you.
Yes, we should not use derogatory terms to describe people from other ethnic origins, but that's it. The PC police have taken it too far, and you can't describe items using "black" or "white".
Soon, we won't be able to say "short people". We'll have to say "vertically challenged", and fat people will be "calorifically challenged" Many comedians' acts will be deemed illegal and we will be fearful of opening our mouths in case we say a word that offends.
We need to harden up. The ethnic minority in this Country is soon to be white (sorry, "those with a lack of melanin in their bodies") We need to keep some traditions, like Christmas banners before we lose them for good. I'll bet the people who they were trying not to offend weren't actually bothered.
If you lived in a predominantly sikh town, and they put up banners for their big religious festival, would you be offended? I wouldn't be, I can assure you. I'm not in the slightest bit racist, but we need to stop all of this PC nonsense for good.

What will someone do to me if I go to a muslim country and start a riot against their believes and their traditions because I simply don't understand them and consider them out of date and barbaric? Yes.... I might be killed..but when someone that is muslim or from another background living in a western country doesn't like the way people behave, dress, etc in the west we are supposed to hear, understand and respect this person's opinion when these people are suppose to respect the way things are here and if they don't like it then go elsewhere where they can live in peace with themselves. I am not against people living where they want to, but where ever you go you have to respect and not interfere with the local way of life!! Even if the only thing you see is drunk men fighting and women with miniskirts puking in the streets after a night out with their girlfriends like in the UK!! The same goes for the americans, you can not pretend to change other countries with the scuse that you are liberating them from dictators when the only thing you're after is their oil, so get out of there and stop causing trouble in the world!! They are not going to eat McDonalds!! Its dog food!!!! and please invent another fuel, that black stuff is killing the planet, sign the kioto convention and stop being so ignorant!!!

I live in a small city in England, where every time they try to change something, someone else stops them. It is Political Correctness gone wrong. If the government listened to the non-Christians, then they would learn a thing or 2.

Yes, I agree that the example you gave is going too far - after all, religious festivals should be celebrated by those who are interested in that religion. However, PC is there to stop people being abused for the colour of their skin, their sexuality or their religion. What should we do? Let people treat people like dirt just because they don't agree with the way they live their lives?

It is going too far my mother works for an international charity and in their Charity shops they aren't allowed to put up a Christmas display or a Christmas tree and this is in the UK. If we can display Hallowe'en masks, Chinese New Year etc... it is being discriminating by not putting up all religious and non-religious displays surely?

I know what you mean. The world has gone mad!!
The world is so diverse with different cultures and traditions that it's impossible to please everyone, someone is always going to be offended. I think we all need to live together in peace and accept that we're all diferent, and respect each other.
This is just wishfu thinking though. It's never gonna happen.
