We have been sending radio signals into space for at least 50yrs now. Radio waves travel at the speed of light, so the first ones are 50 light years away now. Within 50 light years from us there are 2000 stars and no telling how many planets.
I know if we recieved a signal from close by we would want to go to it, whats the possibility an alien race is already on the way here?
This is a star chart of everything within 50 light years.

All depends on load of factor
1. There should be alien life forms (I believe that there are)
2. They should be advanced / intelligent enough to have technologies to receive the signals
3. Smart enough to decode the signals
4. Have proper technology to reply
5. Should have the need / interest to communicate with us
6. If they are to come here - they need to have technology and space ships / vehicles to do so.
The signal we sent, contains exact positioning of our planet in the solar system and the Galaxy of Milky Way !

We are already here. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species and your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

You forget that fifty year ago, the radio signal were pretty weak. Comparatively, they are still pretty weak, compared to the White Noise of the Universe, itself. Just to speak to one of our outgoing satellites, we have to project a lot of power. At the most, aliens would only receive the signals we broadcast for scientific purposes. And even than, it would be extremely unlikely that anything would be lined up to receive the passing signal. Everything else is lost in background noise.

They have been upon us for many many years now. Don't you ever watch the sky? I see all kinds of unexplainable things. I'm not the only one who see this stuff either. I'm aware the government is aware of this also but refuses to tell the public. I also had a friend many years ago that worked for the government and she was made to destroy the pictures and documents that was mailed in by people that had proof of the existence of other life here. Just because they don't communicate in our language doesn't mean they are not already upon us. Ive seen so much that I'm blown away people still refuse to accept their presence. Whatever, but they are here upon us whether you like it or not.

well it's true we have been sending radio signals out, think of this we haven't sent the schematic to build a radio, who knows even if there is intelligent life out there which i believe there is, but they might be stone age primitives or not able to decipher our language, but i hope someone finds it and pops in for a visit.

No, because the first radio signals would be of Hitler's speech from the pre ww2 olympics.

If the radio signals are of modern 'pop' music, I very much doubt it!

We've been broadcasting for 50 yrs, but if we rec'd radio coherence, we wouldn't be able to get to it if it was farther than our solar system, yet...

I concur with RG. Especially on point 5!
If they are more intelligent (and they would have to be to travel so far), they are probably wondering what bunch of miserable under-developed gigs we are...
