Goa is known for sun & sand, beaches & beer.
Its a beautifull tourist destination. A plane trip from New Delhi to Goa takes about 2 hours. Goa has got hotels & food joints in all budgets, depends on you how much you want to spend.
Konkani, English, Hindi, & Portugese are the languages spoken in the same order.
You can get a list of sight seeing spots from Goa tourism.
& if you need an escort you can mail back.

Well helena!! Goa is one of the biggest tourist attractions of India. It is swarming with tourists and has been from the days of Flower Power and Woodstock. You can fly planes which fly you directly to Goa from London or other European destinations. I am not sure about the Americas. They are mostly charters. As for planes from Delhi, the flying time is close to 3 hours. There are many airlines that you can take, Indian, Jet Airways, Deccan, Spice Jet, etc. Goa is very popular with the back packing tourist, so it is not very expensive. But during December, January it becomes very expensive and prices go 4 to 5 times high. A nice time to enjoy Goa is during the monsoons June- October, when it is raining. Of course, you cannot sit on the beach. The flip side is you will find most of the resorts to yourself and the prices will be dirt cheap. Unfortunately, they do not speak Portugese as it was never the first language. Most Goans speak Konkani as their first language. Most of them also speak English.
As for places to see, the famous beahces of Baga, Anjuna, Candolim, Dona Paula, Miramar. Also, the old churches of Velha Goa (Old Goa) which is a UNESCO world heritage, the cruise down River Mandovi. The quaint resorts. The waterfalls. There are many places to see. You can visit the India tourism and Goa tourism websites. Also send a mail to ny@itonyc.com. They will send you brochures in portugese

Hello Helena,
I am from india & Goa is a great place to visit.
Regarding you questions.
Goa to delhi would be around 2-4 hours flight. But i suggest taking flight from Mumbai which is very near to Goa, it wouldnt take more then 30 Mins.
In Goa, English & Hindi are the mostly spoken languages and not Portugese.
Getting Around in Goa wont be too costly. But i Recommend Making a trip though some Travel Agency. Also, near december, the Hotel is goa are booked in advance for new year celebration....so keep that in mind.

Depending how you come from delhi via mumbai or directly to goa - 3-4 hours.
It is not too expensive in Goa.
Portuguese is not the 1st language but a few families do speak portuguese. There are also a number of hotels, restaurants where they speak portuguese.
A visit to the beaches, churches, temple, forts & a river cruise is a must.

Goa is a popular tourist destination for both Indian and foreign tourist. Things are not that costly in India by dollar standard as the currency rate is 1$=47 Indian rupees. For local flight info, try www.makemytrip.com. they can give you the cheapest airfare in India. This is the official site of Goa tourism --

Hey... well Goa is the place to go for a holiday and its got a mix of different kinds of people living there. Very few families speak portuguese these days but everone speaks English.
The best beach is Baga Beach and the best time to visit is between Mid oct to mid feb when all the beach shacks are setup. Accomodation will be slightly high since its peak season but the weather and people are the best at this time.
Its about 2 hrs flight from Delhi and this beach is about 11/2 hrs drive from airport.
Go online to search for Baga Beach and one of the best accomodation in Angelina Beach Resort

Great Place to be in. Try the village houses - quite a few Brazialins in Goa. No. Portuguese is not the first language. We got rid of them. English/Konkani/Marathi/Hindi.
Try Anjuna, and the coast.
Cheap. Also try www.goacom.com
Best of luck . Travel ; easier from Mumbai - 100s of buses a day + a great ride by Konkan Railways; + Air

The one stop place I can recommend for all your queries is http://travel.indiainfo.com. Goa has been given state hood in the recent years and the capital is Panaji. There are very good churches and museum to see there. Goa has abundant beaches of all types and so are the hotels and resorts.
