It bothers me sometime. I pity the people who are really not meant to be with each other yet are stuck with one another because there is no divorce. Sure, there is annulment but that is way too expensive, and time taking. How others want to move on because they were left behind, or abused, or are not together anymore, yet cannot do so because they are still bound by law. For others, (mostly men) they do not care whether they leave their wife behind, because they just do.

I am just seeking opinions and maybe some sympathy for those people who want to move on but can't. Thanks to all who answer.

YES ! Definitely ! Divorced should be implemented in the Philippines !. There are so many cases that a wife is always been neglected by their husband and when they leave them for another woman, there is no financial support given to their spouses, especially when there are kids involved. The woman is being forced to raise their children on their own, without any help from anybody, even from the government. It is just a pity and a shame to those who govern this country and yet never realize this kind of inequality among their citizens. The fact of the matter is, a nation who are mostly Catholics who believe in God are being influence by this "no divorce law" attitude and politics plays a big part.
I think it's about time in the Philippines to have a referendum on " The implementation of Divorce and the financial support that should be given for the spouses and their kids". This Filipino womanizer should grow up and be responsible !.

If there's anyone who would understand this it's none other than myself. To tell you frankly, annulment is much better than divorce. With annulment, that's really ripping all relationships and legal responsibilities out of the way. Trust me, been there (witness, as you might say) many times. Even if you ask for opinion, it's not going to be heard in the P.I. The nation's predominantly closed-catholic-Christian, which is also leaning toward politics. You're digging sand with a teaspoon.

Seriously, divorce IS recognized, if one of the spouse files for it here in the U.S. But if the spouse in the U.S. does file, the spouse left in the Philippines (i think) may file for spousal and child support through the U.S. Embassy (double-check with your legal counsel). I know the U.S. still protect the family of the divorcing spouse even if its in the Philippines. Again, verify with your legal counsel - the competent one, not someone who guesses or think they know everything.

No people should stick together after they get married since it's the commitment they choose and even if one has to suffer regularly because they aren't loved they should suffer silently in pain forever and deal with it.

No.
You have to think at a lot of aspect before marriage ...not after.
We have to learn that being a human being is not the same with being an animal...we are able to think...so if i want to get married i pray for that, i don't choose him/her because i like his/her eyes...marriage is IMPORTANT!
