A long distance relationship takes people who want it to work. Communication, honesty, love and keeping it spicy are the keys to success and also you have to think about when you two will be able to live together. If there is no chance of either of you moving together or in the same country even then I would suggest not to do it. But yes, they can work. It just takes extra effort and can be really tough.

I'm from Alabama and my honey is from Jersey, and we've been in a long distance relationship together over 5 1/2 years!! We met when he came down to Alabama to visit relatives, and I just happen to be super good friends with his cousin that I had classes with my freshman year in college, and she introduced us, and we've been together ever since! We've def had our ups and downs, and it's been hard being apart and only seeing each other like once a month, sometimes longer, but I'm finally making the move to Jersey by the end of this year, so I guess we beat the odds! So the answer to your question is simply 'yes'=)
