If you work in the NHS your annual leave entitlement will be clearly stated in your terms and conditions (recently revised under Agenda for Change). It is quite possible that you will be entitled to days off for bank holidays even if you don't actually work on the day in question. You won't receive the enhanced pay for the bank holiday. If you have not received a copy of your new terms and conditions then contact the Human Resource dept.
In general, in the UK you are not entitled to days off for bank holidays but the European regulations apply which state that you are entitled to 4 weeks annual leave (pro rata). NHS contracts are usually more generous.

your being a bit greedy aren't you. most bank holidays are on a Monday and Friday and if you don't work on them days anyway then NO you shouldn't get a day of in lieu. I work a 4 day week Mon,Tue,Thur,Fri and I don't get any of the bank holidays off I don't even get extra pay for working them. I only get 16 days holiday a year but i have to save 3 of them for Xmas day ,boxing day and new years day. I work a 48 hour week (12 hr shift)

and your moaning about your bank holidays. count yourself lucky you selfish so and so.

The Personnel Department will have worked out what percentage of the Bank Holidays you are entitled to as you work part time.

In the last couple of places I have worked there have been job share people. As the majority of Bank Holidays fall on a Monday - so the person who was working the second part of the week was therotically losing out. The person who was working Monday occasionally had to work a day later in the week.

Talk to the Personnel Department and get them to put it in writing, and copy it to your supervisor, so you all know what is going on.

Why should you get paid for Bank Holidays when most of them fall on a Monday? You don't work Mondays! So are you asking for an extra days pay on a day that you don't work and most of the rest of the country have off?

Admittedly occasionally you get Bank Holidays mid-week - or on a Friday - like a Good Friday - but you don't work Fridays anyway!

Get real.

No because you don't work on a monday!! If you worked that day you may be entitled to some kind of benefit but as you are only part time I don't think that your employer has to offer anything!

If you are not contracted to work on Monday than you will not be paid for a bank holiday that fells on Monday.

No you only work part time. Holiday pay is based on a 40 hour week.

If you work part time, no holidays. If you work full time, then you get holidays. It's part of the benefits package, which is available to full-time employees only.

a lot of times people who only work part time are not paid holiday pay, just like a lot of times they are not eligible for insurance benefits and things like that...

Usually part-time employees are not paid for holidays.
Sorry, I know it sucks. Sometimes Full-Time employees aren't either.
