Ive never played WoW but will. I want to know everything about Shadow Priests and I mean it all Pros and Cons.
I need all info you can give. Are they liked? Do alot of people be them and why? Do you change in the way you look if you go into Shadow Form? What Hord Race should I be. What Professions should I have? What order should I spend my point things when I get to Level 10 and higher? How can I level quicker? What Spells will have me kick some allience butt? What is some early armors I can have that will help me do damage? Should I go solo since I can do Damage? If not who should I team up with? As you can see I have lots of Questions but there are more belive me. Plz answer what you can. Also give me any other info I should know or what you think I should know. Rememer leave it 100% on the Shadow Priest so I dont get confused. TY for all your time in reading all of this...lol.

So, you want to melt faces, huh? :)

Shadow Priesting 101.
Are they liked? Yes and No. Sometimes it's a bit painful coming up against a shadow-speced priest in PVP. That silence that they get can really hurt a caster, and shadow form really hinders melee damage. I think shadow priests are typically liked by those who play them and irritating to many people that don't play them.

Most people expect a priest to be a healer, and sometimes when grouping, shadow priests will forget that they're also there to heal! It's great to be able to use vampiric embrace and heal your group with shadow damage, but remember that if you're the only priest, you WILL be expected to heal (unless told otherwise at the start) and will be griped at if you don't.

Do alot of people play them and why? Many people spec shadow as a priest because it is honestly SO much easier to level with that spec. It is one of the few classes in the game, where one spec can help so much for leveling. It's very hard to level as a Holy or Discipline priest. Many people spec shadow until 60 and then re-spec to a more healing-oriented spec at 60.

Few people choose to play healers (they want to be damage dealers or tanks, etc.), so in that sense, yes, shadow priests are rare. But, it's probably harder to find a pre-60 Holy priest than a shadow priest.

Do you change the way you look if you go into Shadowform? Yes, you turn sort of see-through and you're enveloped in dark shadows more-or-less. It's really cool looking.

What Horde Race should I be? There are many great races, but many people choose Undead for priests. Each race gets specialized abilities for their priests at levels 10 and 20. At level 20, undead earn an extra DoT spell, which is really great for a shadow priest. You can learn more about Priest Racial-Specific Spells here: http://www.wowwiki.com/Priest_Spells#Racial_Spells Also, the Undead Racial ability Will of the Forsaken is another great reason to go Undead. Fear can be really detrimental to a priest, especially in PvP.

What Professions should I have? That really depends what you want to do. As a brand-new player Tailoring/Skinning is a great combination. You can make yourself gear to equip once in a while, but the big thing you can make? Bags. You can make really good money selling bags (if you price them reasonably), and there is nothing more important to making money than having good bags to increase your inventory size! The more you can carry, the more you can sell.

What order should I spend my talent points when I get to Level 10 and higher? If you plan on doing much soloing, get Spirit Tap as soon as you can. It will make leveling so much quicker, with so much less downtime.

Blackout is another great talent. The less damage you can take, the better! If you get a decent stun, you might not take any damage for an entire battle (depending what you're fighting).

If you're doing much soloing, you won't need Shadow Affinity, but if you plan to use your shadow spells in a party/group setting, this would be a great way to keep yourself from getting aggro of the mob. As a squishie cloth wearer, the less you're pounded on, the better!

You can go either way with Improved Shadow Word: Pain. All it does is add two extra ticks to your DoT, but if you kill your enemies before the unimproved DoT wears off, there's no need to waste the talent points.

If you want silence, you need to dump two points in Improved Psychic Scream. It's not an incredible talent by itself (it's a very short cooldown reduction), but silence can be your best friend in PvP (or even when fighting caster NPCs) and this talent is a pre-requisite to silence.

Improved Mind Blast is a great talent. It lowers the cooldown of one of your direct damage spells. However, Mind Blast has a very high amount of threat associated with it, so you won't want to use it often in a group setting.

Mind Flay is a must have as a shadow priest, imo. It slows the target and does DoT style damage. Great spell.

Improved Fade is a very nice talent, but only if you plan on doing a LOT of grouping and main healing (which is why it is odd that it's a Shadow talent). If you're not planning on doing much grouping (or if you prefer soloing or PvP), there's no reason to get this really.

Shadow Reach - this one is up to you. If you find that you'd like a short (very short) amount of extra range on your spells, get it. If not, no biggie, skip it.

Silence. This gives you a brand new spell, which silences the enemy, leaving them completely unable to cast spells (or shout as a warrior, etc.) for 5 whole seconds. This is deadly in PvP. If you like to PvP, I highly recommend it.

Vampiric Embrace is a great talent. It grants you a new spell. When you cast this on an enemy, any shadow damage you do, causes your entire group to be healed (including yourself, even if you're soloing) based on the damage you do. This can even be a great spell in PvP, PvE solo, and PvE grouping. Another must get, imo.

Feel free to get Improved Vampiric Embrace while you're at it. No harm in improving the already good, right?

Darkness - Most people just put 3 points in this one. But, that's your call.

Shadowform - As a Shadow Priest, I know you're already going to get this one. :)

Don't forget that you don't have to use all 51 talent points in Shadow (though, you're more than welcome to). You can throw 31 points in Shadow to get Shadowform, and put the rest in Holy and/or Discipline. (Just as an FYI)

How can I level quicker? You should really worry about enjoying and learning the game. It's so beautiful and detailed. Don't rush through it!

What Spells will have me kicking some alliance butt? Silence, Blackout, Mind Blast, Shadow Word: Pain, the Undead Racial Will of the Forsaken, Shadowform, Mind Flay, etc.

What are some early armors I can have that will help me deal damage? Well, it really depends what drops for you. Remember, nothing in this game is truly free!

Should I go solo since I can do damage? Soloing is great as a Shadow Priest. There is a pretty hefty xp penalty for grouping, and since you're able to do enough damage to effectively solo, why not?

If not, who should I team up with? Mages make great partners for priests (blow the heck out of it before it gets to you), really anything that is decent at damaging can be a great priest partner.

Hope that helps!
