The lamp has this on it Underwriters Laboratories,Inc Listed Portable Lamp issue no 84,487. I haven't been able to find anything like it anywhere and so wondered if anyone might know anything about it like the history of the company and what year this lamp may of been made in and about how much it is worth. Thank you for any info you may have for me.

The lamp has no other markings that can be seen on the bottom. There is a felt linning covering it and when it has one side lossened we haven't seen any marking on this lamp. I checked ebay and there are lamps that say they are made by this comany as well, but none like this one and they had letters in front of their issue numbers.

The only thing we've been able to see under the felt is a round copper spot if that helps any, which it might not.

If you think that you have an antique lamp, best advice is to take it to a couple of reputable antique dealers for an opinion. Most will know quickly if it is antique or not and most will be willing to provide information and an approximate value.

Underwriters Laboratories isn't a company that makes lamps, it is a company that checks the safety and manufacture of an appliance
you'll need to find brand name or marks on the lamp to identify

take your light to an auctioneer to get a price,,or an antique dealer..
