you have to be open-minded about china. it's a communist country, not all are privileged to be well educated. in some cases, girls are not prioritize to go to school. that explains why they don't have the right manners because even their parents are uneducated, this happens mostly in the provinces (and not singapore, hong kong, beijing, etc). i have been there. it is only now that people are being open to other stuff and learning new things, that's why they dress badly and act that way. it will take some time to improve something/someone. it won't happen overnight. i understand what you are trying to point out and of course not only chinese can have bad manners but those are the reasons behind chinese people. in some other countries, it can be poverty that makes them what they are.

Aren't you a Singaporean? I think Singaporean and Chinese are a little related. In my point of view, may be they hate being hot and so, they dress like that. And they talk loudly because most of them have wide mouths, perhaps. But i am not sure why they spit all over the place. However i have once heard a thing that most of the Chinese people believe in ghost. So, when they come back home from some places especially at night, they afraid of ghost following them into their houses. That's why when they come back from outside, before entering their houses, they spit at their entrances of the houses.

you say this abt them, others say thing abt us. it's a vicious circle but I do agree that there are really rude buggers around and some are from China. If compared to other foreign workers the Chinese tend to look the worst in their manners, especially compared to Thais

With the advent of the 2008 Olympics and thousands of foreign visitors, the Chinese government is trying to stop some of this behaviour. If you go back in the future things may be different.

i cant believe tat there are singaporeans who cant recognise a chinaman by the manner they talked n their china accent when they open their mouth. im not trying to generalize, but based on my personal experience n a period of interaction wif different chinamen, i find tat most of them are indeed very loud talkers n often unruly in behaviour. no wonder foreigners call us singaporeans "soft" people.

Bad manners are relative to the culture they are in.
What you see as rude may not be rude to these people, and you probably do things which they think are rude.
A bit of tolerance and acceptance goes a long way when deciding what is and isn't rude.

What is your question, really? If you had been to china, you will find this a common behaviour, so this is not bad manners as far as they know.
Better not judge them unless you know them.
Are you perfect yourself?
