A 'bimetallic strip' is a pair of strips of differing metals attached at both ends. The metals are chosen to expand at different rates when heated. It can be used as a thermometer or as a temperature-sensing switch, as in a thermostat.

Bimetallic: Two different metals fused or welded together, expand at different rates when heated, causing the strip to bend. It is used in simple temperature control devices.

Bimetallic also refers to monetary coin standards but since this is the Physics forum, I suppose the first answer is the one your looking for.
