if you're thinking judy blume, i'm thinking maybe Freckle Juice...or you could be thinking Soup (a novel) by Robert Newton Peck...or maybe you're thinking of Stone Soup?

did he also write A Semester in the Life of a Garbage Bag, and Taking Joe's Place? The soup thingy tickles the back of my mind... is it Gordon Korman?? Wow, those were great books... split my sides laughing...
