I would like to send heavy items internationally by ship (not by air) from U.S., but have no experience on sending an item by ship.
I would really appreciate if you would tell me a recommended company, offering a shipping service by ship.

I would personally start with a larger company like DHL otherwise you can contact a freight forwarder through http://www.forwarders.com/
It has been awhile since I have shipped anything overseas. I know there are all kinds of new requirements and declarations that you have to make. The feds have a brief explanation at their web portal: http://www.export.gov/freightforwarder.html

I would recommend yout o contact an Freight Forwarder specialized in household good shipments, they will make your journey a hell more easy. If you go straight to a shipping line, you will have to arrange all the other requirements by your own.

Fed Ex Freight is pretty good. They're reliable and can move it by truck.
