depending on what type of router it is
if it is a dslcable wireless router there setup close to same way with any of them whatever service u have connect it to the uplink port next install the software wich should came with it.If it is microsoft operating system start run cmd
type ipconfig at the cmd line next type ipconfig/all this will tell you all if dhcpisenabled dns etc. Next type ipconfig/renew. enter ping with the ipaddress of another pc on the network are the routers ipaddress should have connectivity if not check cabling and network card to test a nic type ping 127.0.0.0 that will check the card itself
then type ipconfig make sure there is a default gateway on the network if so should be able to get to the net
if nor there might be a hardware or cabling pblm
configuring a modular router
get to the global config mode
do showrun cmd
show how everything is config at the time
interface S0 status of it makesure it is adminstratively up
next enter network address ,subnetmask, default gateway
next enter the clockrate of the leased line next setprotocol routing protocol
next config ethernet ipaddress/subnetmask for however many ethernet parts you are going to have in the network
config acl security port config
when you config all you going to have on it copy running starting configuration to the tftp server

Go to start and click on run, after the windows pops-up, type cmd
then Enter that will bring the Dos prompt, at the prompt type ipconfig /all
this command will display all the IP address inside your network,
pay attention to the default gateway address, write it down on a piece of paper then open your browser such as Internet explorer
at the address type the gateway address you wrote on the piece of paper (will look like this http:\\192.168.1.1) then press enter that will take you directly to the setup page. This work for any Routers. Please don't forget the httt:\\ before the address

Just by using a Web browser normally, a home router has an embedded web server that serves configuration pages to the machines connect to it within home, the manual should say that to point to http://192.168.0.1 or similar, preferrably using a wired as opposed to wireless connection.
