Last December I sent a Birthday to my celeb crush Amy Lee (Evanescence). About 3 days later, I got a package in the mail wraped in purple wraping paper inside was a letter that said,
Quote
Dear Jason, Thank You for the card. It's nice to hear from a real fan. love Amy lee. Unquote. The letter was typed and there is an ink signature from a pen. The package also came with an marker autographed photo. Now for the reasons I question it's real.

1. When you take a close look at the pen autograph on the letter has a small squiggle in the middle of one of the lines in the L in her last name. just like someone was trying to copy it from some where else.

2. The autograph looks nothing like any other Amy Lee autograph Iv'e seen.

3. I saw the exact same autographed photo on ebay. Same lines same markings and marker endings.

What do you think this has boggled my mind for a year now and I want the truth!

What would make me suspicious is the speed with which you received a reply. If she's someone likely to receive a lot of mail, it would normally take weeks or months for her to see it. I can't say either way. You could take it to a recognised autograph dealer or auction house for authentication, but they would probably charge for their time and might not give you a positive answer.

Where did you send the letter? Was it a fan club? Back when I was a naive teen,I sent a letter to a celeb crush and I got a typed letter back with what appeared to be a inked signature. But it was computerized. I also got a photo with what looked like marker. It was a stamp.

Celebs do not have time to answer and sign mail.
You can be sure that is not real.

probably not real. just to let you know, #1 is not a very good point. I got an autographed photo from two of my favorite tv stars and they both had imperfections in them that looked like someone had tried to forge it, but that was impossible because I watched them autograph it.
