Why did the terrorists attack on 9-11? I keep reading that they did it because they are jealous of our?

freedom and prosperity and such. But that doesn't make much sense to me. Did any of the terrorists say that? Did anyone ask them? Does anyone know of any other reasons why they might have done it?

No, of course not. It has nothing to do with "our freedom". If they were really so jealous of the American lifestyle, they'd just jump the border and start living here, like lots of other foreigners. The whole "they hate us for our freedom" thing is just propaganda put out by the current powers controlling the united states government.

The macroscopic reason for the attack is displeasure with American interference in the middle east. It's been going on for a long time, and many groups in the middle east are unhappy about it.

The microscopic reasons are more complex; as in, why did the individual hijackers agree to it? It's a combination of societal pressures and religious beliefs. You'd have to read about terrorist recruiting techniques to get a good idea about that.

Oh, and good job with the critical thinking. Believe it or not, there are a lot of people who don't actually think about things like that and thus don't think to say "gee, wait a minute, that doesn't make any sense..."

This is a very complex issue and involves much more than freedom and prosperity. It is extremely difficult to understand the entire issue and one cannot explain it here. These are religious zealots and the Middle Eastern mindset works very differently than ours in western culture. We are occupying their land to a certian extent and a host of other issues. You would need to listen to comeone who has studied this culture and been over there. Too complicated to sum up in a couple of sentences.

Its got nothing to do with them wanting to destroy christians. Thats just a load of bull fed to the public to shut them up. They knew that the americans wanted their oil and they went thru extreme measures to make a point. How wud you like it if someone came to ur house uninvited! we are infidels to them, and they want everyone on the planet who isnt islamic dead. is it so hard to get that???? once they kill all of us, they will continue to war between their own factions. its like methodists killing baptists because one thinks they have the religion right and the other should be dead. the only way to deal with them is to either get them to see their thinking is all messed up or kill them off. such is life.
