im 17 and dating a guy that's 25 is that legal? ,we have been goin out for almost a couple of years!

Most states say that the "minor" has to be 18 to be in a "relationship" with a person over 18. But some states also say that you can't be more than 3 years apart if you are sexually active, so long as one person is not over the age of 18 and one person is under the age of 18.

That depends on what state you live in. If you're in New York and you are having sex yes it is legal, but if you become pregnant you will have emancipated yourself and will no longer be considered a minor. Your parents at that time can tell you to leave their home legally and you will be on your own. Your parents will no longer be responsible for your care. YOU will be responsible for rent, household bills, medical/dental insurance, car payments, car insurance, even your education. Now the next question you need to ask is if this 25 year old guy is willing to support you if your parents kick you out...

This really depends on the laws of the state that you live in. In a lot of areas, your boyfriend could be charged with statutory rape. In some areas though, 17 can be considered legal adulthood? How do your parents feel about this? That's the BIG question.

I'm pretty sure you have to be 18 to be considered legal in all 50 states, but check your state. BTW, you were 15 and he was 23...he should be ashamed!

i think that 25 is cool as long as you are mature about it and everything is going right in u guys relationship as far as hes not trying to act like ur daddy or something but i mean ur almost 18 so u will be grown so i think that it is cool

8 years of a difference in age means very little when you are in your thirties or forties, but at 17 you have so much to learn about relationships.
Enjoy your youth with someone your own age . .trust me, it will end in tears.
The fact that you even needed to ask that question tells me that.

I can't believe your parents allow this. I urge you to break things off or at least take a break. There is so much more for you to experience. Please don't settle for this guy, date some more guys. Maybe some your age and see hoe you like it. Good luck
