Ysterday I and my 24-year-old girlfriend were in restaurant. We were talking about chewing gums. She told me that it isn't dangerous to swallow a chewing gum. When we were talking she was chewing a gum. She told me that she will swallow her gum right now and nothing will happen. She slowly took the gum back toward her throat, made a gulp and swallowed her chewing gum. Then she told me that she had already swallowed her gum and couldn't feel it anymore. She told me that swallowed gum couldn't hurt her so not to worry. Then we left the restaurant and talked about other issues. She later told me that there is nothing dangerous, she couldn't feel the gum anymore and she has no stomachache . . . She told me that it is in her stomach and then will come out and laughed. So isn't it dangerous? Is she really true?

Your girlfriend's right, it isn't dangerous. I saw an experiment on TV where they got a girl to eat a whole packet of chewing gum and she was fine. The acid in the stomach is strong enough to cope with gum.

Umm ... the gum will pass through. It is not dangerous to swallow gum. The body cannot digest it, so it will pass through in the next BM.

Are you like 10 or something?

I think she should be alright as long as she doesn't ingest only chewing gum. The gum isn't digestible, so it should pass through just like other things do, like lettuce and corn. I've swallowed gum before without bad effect.

No, it's not dangerous. All you do is crap it out. If it were dangerous, she would probably be dead by now. Teachers just told you stuff like that to scare you into not chewing gum. My mom used to tell me if I swallowed watermelon seeds, I'd grow plants in my stomach. Needless to say, it didn't happen.

Are you for real? You never swallowed a gum before? If you don't do it all the time it is ok, it will come out the other end.

Just one piece of gum will not likely hurt you.
The gum will not react with the stomach acid, so it will pass thru
body.
But i wouldnt swallow a lot of it, just doesnt seem like a smart thing to do.

She'll be OK.

You should go see a doctor though. Your obsession with your girlfriend's health after swallowing gum is a little freaky. A doctor can prescribe something for that.

Considering all the things we girls have to swallow, bullsh*t, body fluids, and our prides, I don't see how this could hurt us anymore.
