The beaten track is always safer. Why take a chance with a new storyline? The original Don was a super hit, not known by the present target viewers, or forgotten by the earlier viewers. Remaking it ensures some sort of a safety as you know it was already well received. All the best to the producers and SRK.

Indian film industry is a champion in remaking and remixing. Perhaps they might have lost the urge for innovations and novelties. The purpose of remaking the movie 'Don' is not known even to them! They have taken the spectators fully granted!

A GREAT film industry and a GREAT viewerbase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What else does anyone need to create(!)/recreate(!)/remake trashes?? Mumbai film industry and so-called great urban cinema viewers are such a deadly duo that "sab kuchh ihan pe chalta hain!" is the baseline.
How many of our mumbai film-makers aka dream-makers(!!!) admit the contributions made by Ritwik Ghatak, Satyajit Ray or Bimol Roy?? How many of these professional quality trash makers of mumbaiwalas admit or know of the contributions made by UIttam Kumar, Balraj Sahani, Utpal Dutta - just to name a few - to indian film acting?? And regarding indian viewers - specially the urban folks, majority of which pretends to know-understand-interpret everything, how many of them are really aware of the contributions made by the persons above?? Yet after watching a present-day movies, these people pass such comment and remarks that it simply reveals the hollowness of their so-called education-culture-background!!!
In such a situation where making - they don't create - a good film is light-years away, there such trash and remaking of trash is quite normal and expected. Be it making money out of well marketted trash, lack of originality and lack of creativity - be it Don or whatever trah it may be, I really can't see any hope to see Dawn in indian film industry.
But still I'm optimist. I respect those brave heart and sensible minds who still dream of creating good movies even in this age where they are constantly facing innumerable hardles, outside forces to smash them. And sheer hatred for those who misleading the nation by an illusive-make-belive- false world. In india, these trash makers are trying to use cinema as "opium to mass". And sheer hatred to those cinema-viewers, better read trash-consumers, who are the lifeblood of these suckers, i meant trash-makers.
