There are posh areas in Manila, like Makati (business district) -the malls , movie houses and bars are great places comparable and sometimes better than what they have in the US.

Jobs - Most companies only hire college graduates and sometimes from preferred universities.

Crime - Pickpockets in areas where there are lots of people.

Cost of goods:I think it is more expensive in Metro Manila than in the provinces, but the difference is not significant.

Depends, Manila is a big area. Makati is as modern as any American city but other parts of Manila are slums. Everything is cheap in Philippines for westerners

metropolitan manila is a sprawling city with various sections of various characters and conditions. really depends on where you are going and what you are planning to do. if you are an expat relocating to manila to work in a multinational company, your office would most probably be located in an unscale city like makati. you would most probably be living in an upscale neighborhood as well. so no worries there.
