What might help is Defragmenting your computer. It's under your system tools in the accessories from the start menu. It just kinda put everything closer together so your memory isn't all spaced apart. That might help, but I'm not really sure otherwise

That's simply not possible.

The average rip speed of any CD-ROM is about 20x, which is 3MB/s. Most CD's have over 600MB worth of music, so when you do the math, that's close to 4 minutes on a full CD.

Now the fastest CD-ROM rip speeds I've seen go up to about 40x when it's reading the outer ring of the CD, and goes down to about 16x on the inner ring. Even with speeds like this, you're looking at more than 2 minutes. There's no way you were ever getting a minute.

Now if it's slower than it used to be, then it could be a number of things. Perhaps you should try rebooting right before you rip. Did you install any software over the course of that week that went by? You could have a spyware infection eating up CPU resources.

There are a lot of factors that could have changed to cause it. 5 minutes isn't that shabby...

As she said, your hard drive maybe getting full, OTHERWISE check the "bitrate" that your copying the file to your harddrive too.

By this I mean when you "rip the cd" you can rip it (the cd) at 128, 192, 256 or 352 or so bitrate, the higher the bitrate, the BIGGER THE FILE. Say a song called "Wind Beneath My Wings.MP3" at 192 bitrate is 3MB, but if you copy it at the Maximum, then it may be 12 MB large, thus taking longer to copy.

Change the bitrate or
CD rom drivers mode change by device manager.

your computer is probably getting cloggedup with all those music files. If you put so much info on you harddisc your computer will have less memory to work with and so it becomes slower.
