This morning, as I was preparing to leave home, I found a dent in my street-parked car. There was a note on the car telling me the license number of an "old woman" who hit my car and then drove off. I reported the incident to the police, and later went back home. On a hunch, I thought I would drive up and down the street just to see if the offending license tag was around. Turns out, the car was parked on my street!!! I checked out the car to see if there was evidence of the collision, but by the looks of things, this person has a hobby of hitting parked cars (the passenger side is much more damaged than the rest of the car). I am not sure if I can prove that this is the person that hit my car, though. What should I do?

KNOCK ON THE LADYS DOOR....SHOW HER YOUR NOTE....ASK.....ASK IF SHE HAD INSURANCE AND COULD YOU HAVE THE INFORMATION ON TO SUBMIT A CLAIM....TELL HER YOU MADE OUT A POLICE REPORT AND AN EYEWITNESS GAVE YOU THE NOTE...... IF SHE DENIES IT.... ASK AT THE POLICE DEPT ...IF THEY COULD JUST GO AND HAVE HER FILL OUT THE INCIDENT REPORT.....IF SHE REFUSES, I DONT THINK YOU HAVE A LEGAL STAND....COULD TAKE IT TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT IF YOU DONT HAVE INSURANCE....IF YOU DO FILE A CLAIM AND FORGET IT ...

Call the insurance company and let them know exactly what happened they are much more prepared to handle this then you think. Paint and dents are extremely consistent and can be proven by accident investigation very easily. If it involves an insurance company the will make sure that their end is covered.
Also attempt to contact the person that left you the note so you have a witness.

first of all ask the owner of the car about it they could have had an emergency,if they don't claim responsibility, and your sure it was them scrape a sample of the paint from your car and the hit and run car and have a body shop confirm that it is from both cars and as a result the police is obligated to charge them with a crime.which is leaving the scene of an accident and you shall prevail and get the other party's insurance to rent you a car while yours is in the shop.

Report to the Poilce that you found the car, by it's license and wait for them to show up.They can check pain chips etc to see if this was the car which hit yours.File a claim or negotiate with the person, who did it, for a settlement.

If you have a lot of time on your hands, you can hide in the bushes, wait for her to drive, and then get out and video since you say she does this all the time. If you have better things to do, then forget about your car and get busy. Sorry, but noone is going to judge anybody on anything that's undocumented and unproven.

Leave it to the police but they don't do much anyway you weren't there so you can't really prove it. Good luck!

call your insurance company and they will deal with it. but it will probably take a few months to close the claim.
