Bring your medical paperwork, and speak with your boss concerning the situation. Irrelevant of your adoption plans, your work has mandates concerning maternity leave. You have a certain time which you can be off without penalty. Depending on your job, you may have medical pay coming, although it sounds like that is not the case.

Usually, it is 6 weeks. For your benefit, you should try to avoid working too late in your pregnancy, but also not come back to work too soon. Ideally, you should take off almost exactly 3 weeks before the due date, although you are statitically more likely to deliver early than late. After the birth, if all goes well, you should have your doctor sign off for you to return to work.

If your employer gives you any trouble, don't be afraid to contact local labor authorities.

They can't fire you just because you gave birth. You are protected by the family leave act. They also do not have the right to discriminate you, or use it against you in future promotion availability. If so, you would have the right to sue them.

Chances are your boss already knows. At 7 months, you should be showing. It is a good idea to discuss with your employer your due date, so they can expect your leave in advance, and prepare for it in advance. The shortest amount of time you'll be out of work is 6 weeks - but for some, it's 12 weeks. Check your benefits folder to see what disability benefits you have coming to you. Some companies have a week deductible, where your personal time is used to pay you while you're off work. Check the short term disability section to see what it says.

It depends on what kind of birth you have and what kind of work you do. A girl that I worked with was a server and she had a baby and was back to work after 3 weeks. I just lost a baby girl at 21 weeks and I could not lift my son (25 lbs) for 2 weeks. Actually, if you read up on the FMLA poster that they should have posted on somewhere where it is easily asscesible, it will state that unless you have been employed for 12 months they do not HAVE to save your job!

I am very impressed by your decision to give your baby for adoption. Don't listen to the jerk who said it's wrong. You need to talk to your doctor about how long you'll need to recover from the birth. Then you'll need to tell your employer how much time you'll need. Some births are harder than others. They have to hold a position for you, but not necessarily the position you had before you left.

FMLA (family medical leave act) Find out at work what you need to do for it, usually fill out forms and a dr. note. They legally have to keep your position for you, as long as you follow what you're supposed to do. I believe it gives you 12 or 13 weeks off, paid only depending on your company's policy. Our policy was good, it gave me short term disability to cover 6 weeks off and then I was able to use my vacation time to make up the 12 weeks. You can return to work whenever you want, and your dr. signs off on it. Talk to your boss asap, 1. so you know what you need to do, and 2. to give him the opportunity to make arrangements to cover while you're gone.

PS: She wasn't asking your opinion about adoption, so MYOFB!!

"... all of us favor to die to be sin free as in protecting with Romans 6:7......." - If this were genuine, the Yeshua died in ineffective, because - once all of us die - we "are free from sin", properly? incorrect. Sin is the mistakes guy took after Adam's transgression. once the body is burned, there exist no mistakes. It really depends on how your labor goes. I had an episiotomy (spelling?) and my doc told me no driving for at least 2 weeks. Generally they don't want you doing anything too harsh for 6 weeks, that's the general rule. And to be honest you really don't feel 100% for about 4 weeks

Go talk to the personnel dept. and find out your rights and company policy, etc.
Tell your boss right after that.
They cant do anything to you, they have to give you your job back.
It is the law.
Good luck, i hope that you will have an easy time.

well. i personally dont think giving it up for adoption is the right choice. but i could understand if theres a good reason to. and i really dont think ur boss could fire you. or move you out of your position just because your pregnant or just didnt tell him/her about it.
