A typical average, like that of the sticker at the dealership isn't correct. Normal people drive both on the highway and off. Therefore, you could normally expect to get about 32-35 mpg. This is also assuming you keep up on the basic maintenance, such as air filter, oil changes; in a timely manner.

I surely have a honda civic with 250,000 miles on it and that's a 1993. The rattling element in simple terms won't die. i would not pay alot for the motor vehicle yet, as long as you cope with it stable, it is going to do the comparable for you for some years.

I get about 25 mpg around town and 32 mpg mostly highway.

If its in bad shape and needs a tune up: bad plugs bad O2 sensor, bad converter maybe 7 miles to the gallon.

it depends on how good the motor is when was the last tune up?
has it got clean plugs, good plug cables. good points. a tuned up car runs better and gets better mileage than one that needs a tune up. have your mechanic check it out one you trust. good luck.
