It does has eyebrows!.

As a matter of fact they are there, although most people have seen only inferior quality pictures taken in the 1960's, or better ones, taken through a 3 inch bulletproof glass.

In Vasari's 16th century description of it he speaks clearly of her eyebrows and how Leonardo captured even the smallest detail on each little hair.

i don't know to much about the know eyebrows but the dark colors are used to give it a sort of mysterious feel about it that makes the mona lisa so famous and has peplexed us for so long... i had the opportunity to see it in person over the summer... quite an experience

the mona lisa was painted by the great DA VINCI. his technique was called ciaroscuro which means light and dark. it creates focus on the mona lisa and it gives her a more realistic feel. the painting was a first as its background was hills and water. usually in pre renaissance time they had solid background of gold washes.
the monalisa is a painting of a wife of a rich merchaner and at that time eyebrows wernt in fashion :)

First off, it probably needs to be cleaned. Second, WHO CARES ABOUT THE MONA LISA!!! IT IS LEONARDO OF DaVINCI'S WORST WORK EVER!!! There are also many theories that the painting was never completed.

Her eyebrows were shaved because her husband loves to see her without the eyebrows. The painting in dark colors because electricity was not invented yet.
