I make a production out of writing. I love getting hand-written notes (but rarely do) so I make sure I send cards or short notes to close friends and relatives. I try to remember special events with cards and a personalized note. I go to a lot of trouble finding good stationery stores that have a wide stock of cards--blanks and with greetings. I buy 20 or 30 at a time so I have something for every occasion.
I have a favorite desk that I write at. I have at least a dozen different fountain pens with various colors of ink to use instead of a BIC pen or a ballpoint pen. It gives the card an added touch. I look for unusual stationary or buy the better quality paper.
I try to keep current in my journal, but it's not always easy.
I'm a writer and I prefer to do my story outlines, character traits, etc. on paper first and then transfer to the pc. Fleshing out the story and characters makes it seem more real. I especially like doing dialogue this way. It seems that by writing it down the characters are speaking to each other directly, and not me to a machine.
I noticed in my grandson's elementary school that more and more teachers are having their students keep daily journals. It may be only a half page or so, but they're developing a habit that should last throughout their lives.

I love to write! All my to-do list is written on a piece of paper; for some reason that always helps me remember stuff. I also have a journal. Its just nice to write down your thoughts. I just started writing a book for my son so that i can give it to him when he's old enough. He's only 6 months old -The book has all the wonderful things he does that makes me smile and makes me upset, the advices I can just give to him hoping he would listen at least some, my dreams and aspirations for him, just words that would make him look back and wonder one day. Besides, I love my handwriting. =)
Yes, I do agree that we are forgetting basic skills. Its just sad but hopefully that would make basic stuff even more sweeter and make us appreciate the simplicity of certain things such as a receiving a simple invitation in the mail to someplace rather than an evite or a simple handwritten note expressing feelings rather than just typing it out which makes it feel impersonal. I guess I can understand why older people reminisce about the good old days. I'm only 24 but I can say the same now: Good ol' days!

I do agree. The internet is super interesting and the pc is very handy but I try to keep writing long hand to some of my friends. Some still do not have e-mail.That makes it balanced for me to continue writing like I use to before I got my computer. I learned to write from nuns when I was a little boy and always loved writing, so like you I do not want to forget my skills. ( french and english).

I don't know about forgetting any basic skills but I had to laugh when I read your question cuz I type everything now! I write much better when I *write* it (by hand) and even though I know this, I still sit here & type everything! lol

You may be right to a degree. My mom would not buy a computer so it was write her a letter or call on the phone. I sometimes miss her letters because somehow letters are more personal. Keep writing in your journal. Someday your kids will consider it a treasure.

it truly is amazing. it truly is waayyy extra effective than Sims2 and a million blended. i like it extra effective because of the fact a million) extra effective photos 2) you get extra info on how the sims are feeling and why (while the sim its a solid meal, the temper will go up and it's going to inform you it truly is because of the fact the sim had a solid meal) and 3) you are able to layout just about any merchandise you pick. You get to %. the textile the object is produced from and the colours and designs that go on it. it truly is definently properly worth $40. definite, you are able to build multistory properties. you need to purchase vehicles you are able to tension, yet you don't get to certainly controll the motor vehicle. it truly is truly cool, cuz you are able to zoom out at click any holiday spot you opt to flow to (public venues which incorporate parks, resturants, and e book shops or spas, or inner maximum residences, which incorporate buddies or acquaintances properties). you additionally can tell your sim to job or walk everywhere around your city, so definite, you are able to commute around the community. i do no longer recognize what the internet website says, yet i like the features you are able to positioned on the characters. you are able to no longer go interior the construction which you artwork in, yet you will discover the facade of the construction and tell the sim what to do AT artwork (which incorporate artwork no longer uncomplicated, take it uncomplicated, suck as much as boss, meet co-workers, practice cooking, for game, writing and so on) on the beginning up Sims3 is extremely troublesome because of the fact it is so diverse to Sims2, inspite of the undeniable fact that it truly is plenty relaxing and you get used to after concerning to the 1st or 2nd day.

I agree. It seems like everyone is using the computer to write what they want to. My little sister now has her diary on the computer and her hand writing is horrible because of it.
