God of War was a really fun game but its is definitely overrated. Its way to short to be the best game ever as some say..

personally (just knows there r going to be haters on me now) id think Halo is a taaaad overhyped, both 1 and 2, i mean ive played and beaten both, there fun.. but in all seriousness nothing exactly monumental and worthy of all the attention it gets.. an example of its over hypness wud be that Halo 2 thing that happened at 7-11... there was even halo 2 collectable cups.. i mean cmon...

i definately have to agree with at least two of the other people on this, in saying that Final Fantasy Seven was the most over-rated game of all time.
there are several reasons for me saying as much, so, let's go through them!
1. now, many people say if it wasn't so great, it wouldn't have so many spin-offs, such as dirge of cerebus, crisis core, and advent children. however, there is another reason for it. if there was a movie and spin-offs of final fantasy X INSTEAD, we would not have so many fanboys out there spreading the misconception that final fantasy seven was a good game.
2. let's see. what was so special within the game? could it be the unique way of using magic, in that you needed materia to cast magics? no, because in six, you had magicite that functioned the same, except in six you would permanently learn the skill/spell, and magicite affected your actual stat growth
3. special about the game? was it the villian? no, because the villian was actually a spirit of the earth, even if he was not benevolent, and was required for the balance of the planet. but lets take four. that end villian wanted to destroy earth because it was there! six, that villian was actually, honestly insane! eight, that end villian was in your party the entire time! (rinoa = ultimecia)
4. chocobo breeding? ugh... ok, yea, great idea, let's teach inbreeding to our world's children!
5. mini games? when you played mini games, they were only repeats of actual things in the game. they were not mini games. you want a mini game? play the card game in nine. you want a mini game that actually helps you throughout the game? play the card game in eight
6. was it so great because of the impressive cast of characters? hardly. each character was only different because of their armor and weapons, and limits. skills? they were all the same, depending on what materia each was given. besides, in 4, there were 11 playable characters, each with different stories and stat growths and... GASP! each had their own class! paladin, white mage, sage, monk, etc..
7. was it so great because it was the first RPG with ATB? dude, seriously? have you ever played chrono trigger? hell, even four had ATB first.
8. was the story actually so impressive? nope, not really. want games with better storylines? take the complexities of FF6. the intricacies of FF4. the amazing ways of putting the story together in chrono trigger. the impressive use of the land to make the story go through the whole world in dragon warrior four. want a meaningful story? play xenogears.
9. oh my god, a character DIES in SEVEN!
are you serious?
i don't know about 2 or 3, but in 4 (on snes, gba messed this up) tellah dies. palom dies. porom dies. anna dies. the entire kingdom of fabul dies. the entire village of callers die.
in six, the entire WORLD's population pretty much dies!
10. well, at least you can get aeris back!
no you can't.
[possibly more to come!]

Final Fantasy 7. Many people think of it as the best game ever just because it was the first Final Fantasy game released for PlayStation. In my opinion, it's not even the best Final Fantasy.

If you mean videogames then its GTA Series no questions asked, so much contaversy about that game, people need to understand that just cause you play a game it does not mean you should go do it in real life, like I dont see anyone saying its not my fault, I was playing Juiced and thats why I decider to go 180mph on a 60, no, it doesn't work like that.

The GTA series is definately over-rated. People are drawn into it by the idea that they can kill anyone in 3D graphics. However, the missions are just not fun, so when a player gets bored of killing people, there is nothing to back up the game.

Final Fantasy VII. i am sick and tired of every single person who owns a ps2 telling me that this is the game that single handedly revolutionized video games. it is just another RPG. i love RPG's, but there is nothing about FF7 that is any different then any other one.
