they showed two identical twin brothers, one of them gay one of them straight. it had nothing to do with nuture, they were simply born that way. there was another set of fraternal twins, probably about 6 years old. one kid believes that he is supposed to be a girl. he plays with dolls, and has no problem with any of it. the other boy loves trucks and video games.
check out the link, i would love to hear people's reactions to it!

Jayelle, i don't know anything about the scientist. But how could you deny it when one twin is gay and one isn't? Did the mother feminize one but not the other? It just doesn't make sense

What it shows is that sexual orientation has both a biological component and a social one. Whatever the orientation of the person is, it is the end result from an INTERACTION of biology + social forces. The identical twins? There is no way for us or the investigators in this study to see every example of parental involvement with either boy, or the involvement of baby sitters, peers, or others. It's not as clear cut as t.v. viewers are made to think.
It's not really "choice." Sexual orienation is the end result of our genes and fetal hormonal influence (biology) and social forces in our lives that we, especially as children, have VERY LITTLE control over.
It's not nature or nurture. It's far more likely to be nature + nurture.

Michael Bailey, who is responsible for this study and quoted, is *highly* unethical and disrespectful of gender-atypical subjects. I wouldn't use him as a source, and it pains me that 60 Minutes did. I would not permit that man to lance a beloved boy in my life's boil, let alone study or interview him for any length of time.
Methodology *counts*. Attitude towards subjects *counts*. This is not an ally. This is not a person who respects your or that little boy's dignity and worth.

Oh my god, I always think that it is inborn not affected by the environment.
I didn't see that show, but I can imagine what they want to talk about. However, this kind of experiement cannot be 100% correct because there are too many factors affect the result.
Anyway, interesting topic

I didn't see it but I heard about it. it's pretty much confirming that there is genetics involved in determining sexual orientation. now, if only the homophobes actually watched and listened, maybe it would have shut a few of them up!?

I thought it was very interesting. I'm glad stuff like this is on national TV on prime time. I wish gayness was more accepted in the public.
