and is it good or bad?In the days of old, people talked to their neighbors more.Over the fence in the back yard,on the patio in the evenings.It took so long to travel anywhere, once you got there,you made the most of it.Here on the prarie,it would take a whole day to get groceries for the month!you knew the butcher,the baker,ect~REAL people.then came radio,and gas powered cars,TV,planes,and finally the internet,which connects us instantly to people around the world in different cultures and communities.Many people are very absorbed with the "idiot box" as TV was once called,and many more with the 'net.some spend hours and hours online ,inside,alone,yet with hundereds of other people with which they interact through cyberspace.Does this fulfill the basic human need of companionship,friendship,love?Sure you probably know your neighbor next door,but how about the next one,or those a block away.In the old days,you would.But then,you wouldn't know instantly,about events from across the worl

Your question requires a dissertation to give an appropriate and complete response. However, to give a brief answer, yes, the general population is becoming less and less savvy with oral communication that it is with technological communication. Sad. People are much more cuddly that a cold machine.

I wouldn't want to go back to the horse and buggy days.
No, I take that back, some days I would.
But, it will never fulfill the need of companionship, friendship, and love which you speak of.
This technology is, l think like probing the universe for intelligence.

It's got more benfits than negatives in my opinion. When you can sit at your desk and interact with people half a globe away in the long run that makes it much more possible for a better world.

Most of the stuff you described I blame on loss of neighborhoods. Believe that they attribute that to the car and moble society. TV is mind numing addiction.

Technologies makes our life easier. But on the other side, it also affects our health, as many people are not moving as often as they used before, due to the use of remote control handset. Every electronics and household appliances are now being operated or capable of remote control operation, even microwave ovens and electric fans.

Totally agree.. With cellphones nowadays people avoid talking and prefer chatting to friends even when in their company via a cellphone!

It is true that person to person interaction is going to the wayside, but eventually i hope that holograms will be incorporated into our communications network so you could see the person you are talking to.
