how much extra should you budget for people that don't respond but show up at the wedding?

Hey, don't bother wasting your money. Call EVERY person who has not RSVP'd. Tell them that you need to know. If they ask to call you back, say that sure, but if they don't call by __________ then you will assume that they are not coming. If they don't pick up, LEAVE A MESSAGE! Say that if they don't call you back within 48 hours (give them that much time at least), then you will assume that they are not coming. Then, order everything for 5-15 additional people.

Usually 10% to 15% more. For example, if you have invited 100 people and get a positive reply from only 70 of them, you should be prepared for 80 to 85 people to attend.

I think call them and get your husband mum and friends to help if their is a few call them all so you can get a number for the catering.
