“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

I don't have any reason to believe that CNN is controlled by the government. I noticed something. CNN used to be more centrist, or populist, but it seems like after Ted Turner met Hanoi Jane Fonda CNN took a turn for the worst. Another possible reason CNN seems to wrong is that CNN may have a strategy to become a world news organization rather than an American news organization. Fox on the other hand wants to be the top Cable News Network in America, and have succeeded at that by taking a pro-American stance. I don't understand the concept of "Fair and Balanced" or un-biased reporting. I think that other than making money, the second priority is to keep the Government in check by criticizing any corruption, and expose corruption. You can't do this by being "Fair and Balanced". I don't have a problem with bias, as long as they don't claim to be un-biased. CNN and all the news networks come across like what they are saying is not biased, and is the absolute truth, but most of it is spin, or blown up stories just to get ratings.
So basically CNN is messed up because of Hanoi Jane Fonda, and Globalism which translates to Anti-Americanism. Nice to have your enemy broadcasting into homes across America isn't it?

CNN is bias, they like every other news outlet, has their own agenda.
However, I think you are way off on the claim they are controlled by the government to control people.
CNN is no worse than FOX, ABC, CBS or NBC in their slated reporting of the news. I think the problem with all news outlets now, tv, radio and print is they no longer report the news - they give us their view on the news.
Save the commentary for the commentators - just report the news and let us think about it!

As a market trader I watch a lot news from all over. I don't really have a preference as most are the same (although I see many different opinions here!) I laugh when I hear how "controlled" or "bias" they are, for the mere fact of how they do ALWAYS put on opposing opinions to every controversial topic out there. You name me one other country, paper, televised program, that can beat the variety of opinions that our good ole' American news has to offer........I dare ya.....name it!

Less bias than Fox, but they're getting there. They used to be pretty good, but they've been becoming increasingly conservative. My dad thinks they're trying to cut into Fox's market, which is a scary thought. Either way, it's always best to get your news from as many different sources as possible, since ultimately, all news agencies are biased towards whatever they think will sell papers.

I have my own political views, but for the sake of being objective --- I don't think CNN is controlled by the government, not how they talk about the administration. Most forms of TV and newspaper media is liberal. Fox News and most radio programs seem to lean conservative.

CNN, like everything and everyone in America, is controlled by the government. That's why there's no news reports on its corruption. Why Bush is still president(evan though we know its rigged). Why there's a war going on, and countless other serious issues that have been ignored. If you look closely, its all conected.

Absolutely yes...

I have gotten to where I only trust PBS news and CSPAN (because you actually see the words right out of the politicians mouth on the congressional floor).

I also sometimes go to the Associated Press website when I see a reference to them... that way I get the first story and not an interpreted one.

I made this conclusion after paying close attention to some CSPAN debates then watching CNN... I started noticing they were leaving out crucial things and twisting other things that I had heard first hand. After that how was I suppose to trust them on anything else such as foreign news reports.

This is a fact...CNN is BIAS in favor of Liberals(Democrats) That is why Fox News(Republican) exists. Fox News solely reports to make sure that people are not filled with bull on CNN. There has to be equallibrium right?

Everyone who hears something they don't like automatically assumes that there is bias. People always seem to want to have their ears tickled. Not all news is good news, people. Deal with it.
