I really have no idea. That girl would be just a year younger then me today but unfortunately some one, who I don't believe was Karr, murdered her.
Its such a mind boggling topic, but I was too young to remember the specifics of the case when it was aired on the TV, over and over again.
I personally believe it was random, if not then a co-worker of the father. I don't know which is scarier.
Karr is probably using this case as a way to get out of jail.
Since he was going there any way for child porn. Why not spice things up, and get the attention of what he is really guilty for?
However if he did do it, why would his ex wife say he was with her and their family that day for Christmas? I'd probably say the same thing even if it wasn't true.
Who would want to be associated with the man that strangled, raped and murdered and six year old girl?

Once on Court TV, about 2 years ago, I saw a documentary/special about the JonBenet Ramsey investigation & a group of grad students in some well-known law school (forgot which one) re-examined the case & really spent a lot of time on it going over evidence & investigating, that they found a man who had an overwhelming amount of evidence against him, I don't exactly remember if they said they had a DNA match, but this guy seemed to be the one. He was some local loser from Boulder, he looked like white-trash- anyway, he had a criminal record & was a suspect of another little girl who was his girlfriend's daughter & was in dance class with Jon Benet. That girl was found murdered. I wonder whatever happened to that guy?
As for Karr-He's crazy. Really Crazy. Like crazy in a way we can't even comprehend. Just look at the look in his eyes. That's Evil! Whether he did it or not, which it dosen't really look like he did do it.
Wants attention, was facing penalties in Thailand similar to if he had killed her, so he figured he's might as well be famous for it.

Joshua S, i think u might have something there! Seriously it never occured to me that no matter what he's doing right now (how much trouble he's enduring), he just wants the lesser of two evils!!!!
THATS IT!!!!!!!!!! Why havent i thought about that??? OMG, i mean, say if he didnt confess to the murder soemthing else might've happen? Maybe he's protecting someone? Tryin' to get his *** outta Thailand? What was he up to in Thailand? The land for paedophiles?
There are 2 sides to every story. In this case, John Karr is one, where's the other one? He'd put himself into this kinda trouble, either he's really a loonie or he's hiding something!
SOMETHING BIGGER....HUGER...OR, I DREAD TO EVEN MENTION THIS, SOMETHING SCARIER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I think that John Carr was just looking for a free ride out of Thailand but there may be even more to it. He is writing a book about the case and he probably thought he could find out even more about the case by getting arrested and questioned. (Maybe the questions would give him some information that he doesn't already have.)
He will be charged with having child pornography in his possession, but the punishment for that is probably far less than what he was going to get for the trouble in was in in Thailand.

I’m afraid the man has mental disorder. Its not hard to understand when his mother was unbalanced as well, tried to kill him and his older brother by burning them alive. He is clearly is pervert this is not the first murdered girl he has had an obsession with. One of his old school students said he always favored the girls. I think in his mind he did kill JonBenet he convinced himself that he did it even though he didn’t. Its clear the man is not stable and he needs to be in a state facility

He knew that they can not prove anything, he is nuts, and the News media needed a story to stick it to the puplic, with all that pictures of that little girl. Which is sicker, Karr or the news media?.

Maybe because he is a frickin psycho, or he could have been paid off by the real killer to take the fall for him, or maybe it is just that he wanted a free ride back to the U.S. I don't know, but I think he is despicable either way.

some people are speculating that he's deeply in trouble with the law in Thailand and needed to be extradited back in order to not face convictions over there.
