Hello i am looking to become a model and later move up to fashion design or visa versa. I am a 18 year old male and toned from years of dance. Is there anyone out there looking for models or assistance in fashion designing. I also welcome advice on everything. Thank you.

ive been modeling in NYC for about 4 and half years now, ive learned and experienced alot. i've done runway shows for obedientsons.com, i did ad campaigns, i shot with all american guys, six pack now in 2005, and among other things u have to start by creating a portfolio. each agency requires something different. go out and get ur self a few shots done professionaly a few good head shots, and body shots and put that in ur portfolio among other things whatever is required by what agency. u should call up the agency and schedule an appointment and take ur portfolio with u and the rest is from there. i got lucky i worked at abercrombie and fitch and got noticed. goodluck. for modeling u have to be open minded and be easy to work with because people will be very critical of u and u also have to be on time.

One of the keys to securing a modeling career is signing to a reputable agency.

A few ways you could get their attention:

Walk around Hollywood & Highland (if you live in or near LA). You might get scouted, but that could be really boring and it could take a REALLY long time.

Instead, you could send natural, makeup-free, non-airbrushed photos of yourself to an agency contact's email address. Take a full body shot, a beauty shot, different angles of your face, etc and make sure that you wear neutral clothing e.g. plain white tee and jeans.

Go to an agency's open call. Certain agencies have open calls on certain days and times, so check their websites every so often for updates.

The breeding ground for American high fashion is New York, so contact the big agency names in that city, namely: Boss, Wilhelmina, VNY, Elite, IMG, Ford, DNA, etc. Keep in mind that these agencies tend to focus on the high fashion look and want a certain height. For men, it's usually 6'0" to 6'2". There are a couple of guys who are 5'11" but that is kinda pushing it.

Some of these agencies have offices in Los Angeles like Ford and Wilhelmina, so you might want to check those out first.

You could also send pictures to commercial brands that are requesting some submissions at the moment. I know Abercrombie and Fitch is always looking for fresh faces. If you think you embody the look they want, go for it!

You could also contact a casting director! There's this casting director with a blog at http://coacd.blogspot.com/ If he likes your look, he might be able to help you out. Who knows?

Last thing, you could join a REPUTABLE modeling contest or modeling convention.

Good luck!
