when I got it some of the skeleton was showing now alot more of it is. any advise would help

A progressive recession towards the top of the colony is usually indicative of poor water quality and often high phosphate levels.
Make sure it is in an area of high water movement and feed it by blowing some phytoplankton and rotifers across it at night.
