what other options do i have, I want a faster web browser.
can you walk me through the steps to downloading and installing something else.
the website for Konquer is difficult to understand, even tho iread it all

Your options are konqueror, mozilla, lynx, and opera
Having tried all but opera myself, I am a bit mystified at why you think you dont want Firefox. I would any day prefer that to the others... :-)
But for whatever it is worth.. this is my order of preference
firefox > konqueror > mozilla > lynx
I have no idea where opera would fit it... so no comments on that one. And unless you like self inflicted pain.. stay away from lynx!

Try Mozilla. Maybe there is a version of Opera for Linux.
If you really want to use Linux, you have to get used to the fact that from time to time you may have to do difficult tasks to do what you need. If you succeed at that, you will feel good about it and will be able to brag that you're a Linux pro.

Firefox is faster than Mozilla.
You can recompile Firefox from source selecting only make options you need. AFAK, Firefox is *very* fast and effective. Maybe, your computer is not fast enough?
