The differences between Sunni and Shiite are ideological. Primarily, they accept different leaders who succedded Muhammad. This causes problems even now because of the power struggle for example, in Iraq. Where there is a clear majority as in Iran, there is little problem. Hizbollah seems particularly focused on Israel whereas Al Qaeda is more anti-American. Osama is a very charismatic figure. Nasrallah is popular because of Hizbollah's charity to schools and hospitals in Lebanon (now to rebuilding houses). Nasrallah is popular because he was more or less victorious.

An in depth analysis would be very lengthy. If you separate this into 3 questions I will answer them in more detail.

Sunni And Shiite are ethnical differences. Osama is as power hungry a bastard as any other religious person can be. Nasrallah is a movement. Al Queda is a gang of thugs that represent greed and selfinterest above religion, they use Islam to get cannon fodder for their own personal cause. Hezbollah are cowards and the real source of misery is the fact that Hezbollah uses money from Iran to build hospitals to hide behind while they launch rockets into peoples houses. All of these groups come from intellectually and backwardly thinking people. We solve our social problems in a more advanced way in the West and Parts of Asia, they don't try to solve their problems they blame them on others and then send their young people on Suicide missions instead of to school.

Sunnis have self assurance that Muhammad develop into the final prophet and extremely final messenger of Allah (God). The Shiites even have self assurance this yet they say that Ali develop into meant to be the final prophet. that's the extensive-unfold distinction between the two. another distinction is that for the time of Shia Islam the Mahdi (messiah-like parent) is greater emphasised interior the perception than in Sunni Islam, even if theoretically Sunnis even have self assurance interior the Mahdi.
