Take all the money spent on all the army and use it for conservation, ecology and to create a massive free school programme. A hugenumber of jobs would be created and education and wareness campaings would be launched. Other than that its up to the poeple.

I am not sure I can answer that question. Really! I am not a King. I am never going to be a King, right? I guess it is possible to earn enough money, and buy a country that needs a King. I know that Monarchy only works so-far. Then again it has last a lot longer than Democracy. I guess I could write a constitution as a King.
That would already start to look more like a Democracy. And even that would likely only help for a few hundred years. You know, until people stop participating in the way Democracy works. You know, stop voting, complain a lot and be cynical about everything. So then completely ignore the current administration and events, believing it is out of their control, nor not their fault the way the things in the nation and life turn out. Etc, etc.
I guess as a King I would educate, educate, educate. Then Democracy would have to turn out to be an awaKING.

wow what a great question for me. lets start with getting rid of all the big weapons, don't need them I am king. Then work harder to find more sources of fuel. education for everyone. food and housing a must. use the land more wise then before. create a prision state were all inmates would be sent to. more open gaming thoughout the word. equal rights for all. jobs to all, if you can work you will. free health care. less rich people more middle class.

King for the day, help all the benificiaries that need to be help, animals, children to women to man. Fighting diesases like SARs, bird flu, Aids and Cancer to animal conservation and donating money for more research and development to solve all this. Also everyone will be exempted from tax for a year...

Granted I had the Gyges ring, I would perform Santa Clause like acts of secrecy, paid for by the Kingdom's treasury. Anything else, would be misconstrued as imbalancing power and goods.

I'll impose a universal rule that parents who neglect their children on the streets to beg and starve to death and those who abuse be put in jail. These children will be put in social institutions to be fed, educated and cared for. I think that this world would be a happier place if only parents would be more responsible with their kids.
