Use Windows XP. Linux is only usefull if you have a few years to figure it out. Even if you do figure it out there's no guarantee you'll be able to find drivers for all your hardware.

Linux is not as intuitive as Windows either. Most devices will be recognized and installed immediately by Windows. With Linux you have to do alot more work to install devices and you'll end up spending time on Linux forums asking for help.

If you want your computer up and running fast and easy, use Windows. If you want to spend alot of time setting everything up yourself and learning the nuts and bolts of the system, perhaps Linux will make you happy.

Hi,
I thinks that Windows XP is much better than linux.
If u use ur computer as a multimedia or for playing games then windows XP is best for u because it supports about 80% of hardware devices and software but for linux every thing should be recommended for it

But if u have a official work so use linux because it is 90% secure than windows XP ok. It has a built in antivirus and firewall programmer which helps hacker away from ur computer

But for average i prefer Windows XP because it is also easy to maintain and use our PC by it. Ya but try to put norton antivirus and firewall in it so it works as it's best

So i thinks u can understand what thing u needed ok

Linux 's working performance is best..as it is installed previously with many compilers like gcc,gc++ etc..where as windows lack them..at the same time user will know what the current program does but it is impossible in windows..

Linux is definitely better than what it used to be few years back...It has become more stable and hardware detection problems are reduced.... We have continous new versions coming thanks to ubuntu and Fedora....

If you ask me for performance, Than linux is surely for Power users, It allows lot of flexibility...though people are unhappy taht at first u install fedora the mp3's dont play out of the box.... But the thing is Linux community can really help you to figure out that how can you do that easily...

cheers,
Anurag

Linux was created for power users and is more complex and difficult to use than Microsoft Windows.
Both of them have their own advantages and it depends on your requirements.
Linux is based on UNIX.
MICROSOFT WINDOWS IS USED BY MOST OF THE COMMON / HOME USERS.

Depends upon what of level of yur expertise and for what you are using your system. If one is casual user and wants to use it for multiple programs, XP is best. And in other case if you are professional, Linux is open code you can develop it for your perticular motive.
