it will load windows almost all the way then i cant click on anything,i can in safe mode but not in normal start up.this pc was given to me so i dont have any soft ware for it.it is a hp compaq nc 4000.

start the computer in safe mode open windows explorer click on tools on the meu bar at the top/folder options/view/select show hidden files/untickbox hide protected operating system files you will see the hidden folders on your system then look for a folder in windows named options or preinstall if you have this open the folder and click on the setup.exe file windows will then reinstall itself at the instalation screen when it reboots pick repair windows leave file system as it is this will re install windows but leave yor files as they are on the computer you will still need your serial number to re install

Ok i understand ur problem so i thinks that ur windows starting file is bing corrupted but don't worry if u have recovery CD then u can easily reover ur windows otherwise u have to reinstall it on ur PC
