Fear, fright, flee or fight: one of man's most primal instincts. It goes back to caveman days when a quick decision was needed if you were attacked by a fierce animal. You only had moments to decide if you dare to stand your ground and fight or in most cases flee. It is stronger in present times in some people than in others. I for instance would never think of cliff climbing. It frightens the life out of me. Others would not have a second thought about doing it. Yet, some, or probably many, of those same people would have phobias about snakes, spiders and other insects. It is probably caused by inborn instinct whereby some of our ancestors were bitten by poisonous insects whilst others from more temperate climates were not. For whatever reason, I flee from most dangers yet I will do really dangerous things to save someone from injury or even death. A very strange world and a very interesting question...........

that is a question that only you can answer. There are many reasons to fight as there are many reasons to flee. if you are in a one on one situation and there is not way to flee then fight. If you are in a honorable situation and it comes not to fighting for a cause and you honorably have signed an oath to protect and serve then fight. If you are in a bar room fight then flee. If you are with a girl that is being raped or yourself then fight. If you are out numbered and going to die anyway, fight. If you can flee with honor and live with yourself and you have not promised anyone anything to protect them, and it will only effect your life and not someone Else, then flee.

If you are weak and can cannot protect yourself then flee.
if you are strong and can protect yourself then fight.
Good Luck

I personally don't like either response. I used to fight but I found out that that was no good, because if I won I felt bad about hurting the other person. I don't like fleeing because it is too cowardly. But there is another option.- communication. Let me give you an example. When I was a young guy I was walking home from school out in the country. I came to a place where there were two guys harassing a girl that I liked. There was an old shack nearby and they were trying to get her to go into that shack with them to do you know what. Well, I could see that she really didn't like these guys & didn't want to go into this shack. She saw me and pleaded with me to help her. I was in a quandary. One guy was bigger than me and there were two of them so fighting them was not a very good idea. But I couldn't just walk away and leave her in this predicament, either. So I just stayed there and talked to the guys and to the girl, and altho they wanted me to leave and threatened me, I just stayed there until they realized that I wasn't going to go. I kept talking (I was scared) but it worked. Eventually they gave up and I took the girl home. So my answer is, don't do either if you can avoid it. But if you can't, then fight!

I don't know what sort of cirumstance your're refering to, but we have been having arguments in our local news forums in Las Vegas over whether it is right or not for a police officer to shoot a criminal suspect if he attempts to resist or flee.

I for one, would prefer to have the criminal element OFF OF THE STREETS! If a criminal suspect attempts to fight of flee from a police officer, SHOOT the mf!

If it's a case where you are confronted with someone who wants to whoop your but over some sort of petty disagreement, there is no shame in looking the schmuck in the eye with a sorrowfull "You are such a fool" expression, and walking away.
