7 months, much more satisfying. But had to work privately inbetween jobs and became very poor.

For my last three job moves, I always found the job first (actually they found me, and we came to terms....nice to be looked for).
The previous one, quite a while ago, I was laid off (two weeks after I returned from my Honeymoon!), It took about three weeks to find, but they didn't want me to start for another month...so about two months total out of work.

The rule of thumb is - expect to look for 1 month for every $10,000. you make a year. So if you are looking for a job paying $40,000. It will take around 4 months.
All my jobs have been just luck- leaving a job that i have for a better one.

I found that it is easier finding a job while having a job. And my current job is way better than my last job. I love it.
